Control Rods for Rudder Tab Installed

The control of the rudder tab is routed from the compensation mechanism via two deflection levers and three control rods to the intermediate shaft in the tail section. To make things a bit more complex, each control rod has a different cross-section and differently sized forks. These are individually machined from CrMo steel.

With that, the installation of the control system in the fuselage is about 90% complete. The only remaining tasks are the control cables for the elevon trim and the rear section of the rudder attachment. I’ll first need to measure these precisely on the CAD before I can order them pre-assembled.

The next step will be the attachment of the vertical stabiliser. The mounts are welded from CrMo sheet metal, which means many hours under the welding helmet in the coming weeks.
