Fuselage Sheating Part 2

Finally, a new blog post!

After the website was hacked twice and then crashed by itself, a few important adjustments had to be made in the background. This not only cost money but also a lot more time. These adjustments have just been completed, and I’m hoping the website will stay stable from here on.

Another reason for the longer pause was a trip to Southern Africa. While there, the project work shifted to the computer, where I was able to design the wing in detail using CAD. But more on that later.

Back in the workshop, the fuselage sheeting work continued. The underside is almost finished now. The strength that the fuselage gains from the 3mm plywood skin is impressive, but so is the increase in weight.

The cut-out for the landing gear is only partially visible in the drawings. So, I had to visit the original aircraft at the Fliegermuseum in Dübendorf to take a closer look at the exact execution. This wasn't straightforward, as the plane is suspended above the N-20 Aiguillon. Fortunately, Mr. Ritter kindly provided me with a hydraulic lift, which allowed me to capture all the details perfectly. Many thanks!

The two frontmost sheeting segments had to wait because the cockpit floor wasn't finished yet. See the next blog post.
