Two exceptionally strong bulkheads have been installed in the fuselage centre section. The wing spars will later be attached to these, transferring the wing loads to the fuselage. The U-shaped construction of the bulkheads is made from laminated spruce strips and differs fundamentally from all other bulkheads.
For the construction of the blank, the laminates had to be pre-formed under steam and then clamped and dried in the mould for several days. After that, the individual laminates were glued together in the mould. The first attempt failed because I underestimated the effort and exceeded the glue's working time. Back to square one, starting from scratch. In the second attempt, I glued in two stages. This time it was successful. The blank is finished and ready to be milled.
