The fabrication of the foot part was a real challenge. The cutting and bending of the individual sheet metal pieces was done entirely by hand. Anyone who has worked with CrMo steel knows how much effort this takes ;-).
To ensure the axis of the holes was perfectly aligned, I had to build a jig first. This reduced distortion during welding to a minimum.
Here, the three main parts are assembled and temporarily attached to the spars. The bolts connecting them to the spars will be enlarged to 12 mm during the final assembly of the vertical stabiliser to the fuselage.
