The construction of the nose gear components is in full swing. For the first part, the knee piece with the pivot axle, I had to build a welding jig. This ensures that distortion during welding stays within tight limits.
The axle tube has already been fabricated as well. Tubes made of 25CrMo4 in these dimensions are not available, so I had to bore the tube from solid material on the lathe.
The first sheet metal parts have been positioned with welding points. For the side parts, I’m having some headaches with bending the radius. The high stress on this part requires flawless welds, which in turn requires absolute precision during fitting.
