The rudder has been separated from the fin, placed in a jig, and is now being worked on individually. With the leading edge ribs glued on, the next step is to sand them into a perfect semi-circular profile before gluing on the rudder's leading edge sheeting.
This is where my secret weapon comes into play: the 3D printer. Thanks to the printed form templates, sanding became almost child’s play. I wonder how they managed to get it even remotely this precise back in the 1950s.
