Rudder leading edge covering

The rudder leading edge is made of a molded plywood sheet with diagonal fibre orientation.

The mold was fabricated to highest precision by a friend who is the happy owner of a seriously large table mill. Thanks Koner! Then the plywood needed to be soaked for some time before it could be bent without breaking. Another layor of plywood on top with reinforcing planks glued to the side kept it in that position for a week. After removing the mold it took another week for the plywood to dry up completely. Then it was shaped to size including the scarf joints along  the edges before it was glued onto the rudder nose.
